We decided to pass the last weekend before the exams on Bintan, an Indonesian island South-east of Singapore. The way to get there was more burdensome than we thought. After small Time and ticket problems we finally arrived on the island at about 18.ooh.
Thereabouts we were received from a lot of locals who all wanted to bring us for a good price to our hotel on the other side of the island. We decided to take the friendliest one and explained him that we first would like to have dinner somewhere and then watch a football match. Though, he showed us a nice place to eat local food and afterwards a place where we could watch the match on a big screen accompanied by Indonesian Karaoke.
Afterwards our driver brought us to our hotel which was in fact a two-storey bungalow next to the sea where all the 4 of us could sleep.
In the morning after the breakfast we made a walk to a stone construction which was about 500 m off the coast. The water, however, was never higher than my hips. Then we walked to the next resort where a friend and her parents passed the weekend. It was quite interesting to see the differences between a luxury resort and our accommodation even though neither of them had a real beach. To reach a beach, we would have had to take a boat to the next small islands, which was a bit too expensive for us.
Because we still had some time to spend before taking the ferry back home, we watched the exercise of a dragon boat race.

Wir entschieden uns das letzte Wochenende vor den Prüfungen auf Bintan zu verbringen. Einer kleinen Indonesischen Insel süd-östlich von Singapore gelegen. Der weg dorthin war aber alles andere als einfach. Nach kleineren Zeit- und Tickettechnischen Problemen kamen wir so gegen 18.ooh in Bintan an. Dort wurden wir von Einheimischen gerade zu umschwärmt, denn jeder wollte uns für einen guten Preis ins Hotel fahren. So entschieden wir uns für einen, der uns sympathisch erschien und erklärten ihm, dass wir zu erst noch gerne etwas essen möchten und danach Fussball schauen möchten. So zeigte er uns das lokale Essen und einen Platz wo wir den Match auf Grossleinwand mitverfolgen konnten, begleitet von indonesischem Karaoke. Danach fuhr uns der Chauffeur auf die andere Seite der Insel zu unserem Hotel oder besser gesagt zu unser Unterkunft. Denn wir schliefen zu viert in einem gemütlichen Doppelstockbungalow direkt am Meer. Am morgen machten wir einen kleinen Spaziergang ins Meer hinaus auf eine kleine Steinformation, die etwa 500 weg vom Ufer war; der Wasserstand war nie höher als bis zu meiner Hüfte. Danach liefen wir dem Strand entlang zum nächstgelegenen Resort, wo eine Freundin das Wochenende mit ihren Eltern verbrachte. Es war eindrücklich die Unterschiede zu sehen, zwischen einem „luxus“Resort und unsere Unterkunft; Aber wirklich einen Strand haben beide nicht. So müsste man mit dem Boot auf die nächstgelegen Inseln um fast unberührte Strände zu sehen; war uns aber zu teuer.Da wir für die Heimfahrt noch ein wenig warten mussten, schauten wir einem Drachenboot-Training zu mit Teams von ganz Süd-Ostasien.

On s’est décidé de passer notre dernier week-end avant la session des examens à Bintan, une île indonésienne au sud-est de Singapore. Le chemin pour y arriver n’est pas vraiment facile à surmonter. Après qq problème de temps et de tickets on arrivait finalement vers 18.ooh à Bintan.Là-bas on avait un comité de réception, des locaux qui voulaient nous amener à notre hôtel à l’autre côté de l’île, chaque un pour le meilleur prix. On avait choisit le plus sypma et on a lui expliqué qu’on aimerait bien manger et regarde un match de foot avant d’aller à notre hôtel. Comme ça il nous a montré un endroit sympa pour manger la bouffe locale et aussi une place où on pouvait regarder le match sur un écran géant accompagné de la karaoké indonésien.Après notre chauffeur nous a amené à notre hôtel qui ressemble plus à des bungalows. Nous, on avait un à deux étages et on a pouvait dormir tous les 4 dans le même. Le matin on a fait une petite marche vers une formation des pierres qui était environ à 500 m dans la mer mais l’eau n’était jamais plus haute que mes hanches. Après on a passé au prochain complexe hôtelier où une copine à nous avait logé avec sa famille. C’était intéressant de voir la différence entre cet endroit luxurieux et notre accommodation même si tout les deux n’avait pas vraiment une vraie plage. Si on veut avoir une plage presque vierge, il faut prendre un bateau pour aller sur une des petites îles, qui nous a trop coûté.Car on était encore un peu trop tôt pour le ferry retour, on a regardé l’entraînement d’un cours de « Dragonboat »
